we are spOILed with essential OILS: DoTerra

Essential oils have really made there way through our town like wildfire and Summer and I just couldn't resist. At first I was a little angry at myself because I jumped in head first and didn't really know how to use them that well. I was just so excited I could use a natural product to take care of me and Mako before reaching for the Advil for me and Xanax for Mako. I've used them every day for four months now and have seen amazing results. Since having DoTerra Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade(CPTG) in my home, I have not had one migraine! I used to suffer with migraines every month and it would easily ruin my day.
Each of the sisters have favorites and it should be no surprise that Shawna included hers in her beauty routine. Shawna created an awesome facial day cream using lavender oil and fractionated coconut oil. She also includes a drop of lavender oil in her mascara for healthy lashes. Summer loves Soothing Blend after a long day of teaching and yoga. She also diffuses lavender at night so she and Breeze get restful sleep. Sunny has been using the Digestive Blend, Detoxification Blend, GX Assist and PB Assist+ to get her system in check. Jonnie is mooching off all of us(of course being the baby of the family). Yesterday she had a tickle in her throat and didn't have her normal energy so what did this crazy oil lady do? I made her a "cold bomb"! Lemon, Frankincense, Protective Blend, Oregano and Peppermint oil all in a Veggie Cap and drove it to her work. I made her put some Joyful Blend on her wrists. She text me ten minutes later that she was already feeling better!
My favorite patient/victim is my dog, Mako. He suffers from anxiety in a major way. When I see him getting himself wound up I put a drop or two of lavender or Soothing Blend with Coconut Oil on his paws or tummy and it not only settles him down but it knocks him out! Haha! My bull terrier also has always had really rough skin on his elbows. I tried Frankincense on those elbows maybe three times and they have never looked better! When I notice his tummy seems upset, I'll rub a drop or two of Digestive Blend on his tummy to help him feel better.
We are also big fans of the Vitamin Pack. I no longer have my mid-day slump which is SO awesome. I honestly had no idea that it could make such a difference in my day.
Before any of the American sisters had a chance to use DoTerra, Autumn already had her first order in New Zealand. She loves to rub lavender on the bottom of the girls' feet before bed time. With four little girls there is always at least one of them with a cold so she puts Respiratory Blend on their chests and behind their ears. She then diffuses that at night so they breathe easily. Autumn puts a couple drops of Lemon and Melalueca(Tea Tree) oil in a water bottle to disinfect her kitchen countertops. There are just SO many ways to use these oils.
Summer, Autumn, and I would love to help you make sense of essential oils too! Visit us at http://mydoterra.com/summergurell, http://mydoterra.com/marleaugurell,

Gospel for Asia

Three or four years ago Summer, Sunny and Marleau decided to sponsor children in India through Gospel for Asia. Maybe it was all our years in National Charity League(42 years combined) or the lingering guilt installed at a young age while growing up in the Catholic Church(lots of years of that too) or maybe just the great example our Mom showed us(I think this must be the real reason), but we all have a passion for giving back whether it be our time, energy or even a little cash.

Our church, Daybreak, in Carlsbad introduced us to this charity which provides schooling, food and Jesus to underprivileged kids all over the continent. We get hand written letters and colored pictures from our child all the time. Marleau's kid writes the most often because she writes them back! She always has to remind Summer and Sunny to do the same. Summer and Sunny's kids both have sent updated pictures of themselves and it is so great to see them grow.

This is just one of the many charities that have our heart. There are so many more that I'll share soon!

The Wet Brush

I don't know how we ever lived without this brush! The Wet Brush was made to detangle wet hair, but can also be used on dry hair. Wet hair is extremely fragile. When being brushed it can be stretched to almost double its length causing it to break and snap. These bristles were designed to collapse which is easier on the hair and somehow detangles miraculously! It is a must for every kid. Moms save yourself a headache after bath time, and use this on your children! It works on every hair type, and comes in all sorts of fun colors. There's even a baby wet brush for travel. Be kind to your hair and invest in a Wet Brush!

Cheers to the Longs!

Well the crazy Californians got back yesterday from celebrating the Long's Wedding in Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina. I traveled there with 12 friends (mostly guys) and it was hilarious. On the way there we were all stoked to sit together and after 5 days together on the way back we have preferred to sit by strangers rather than each other! HA! Carissa made the most beautiful bride and well, Timmy was just the most handsome man ever. We spent most our vacation on the Logan's dock in our bathing suits and I wouldn't have had it any other way. The water there was perfect and I had a blast jumping off cliffs and trying to surf with the guys. Don't ever wear a strapless bathing suit by the way...I'm pretty sure most of NC saw my boobs at some point. I absolutely loved it there! Cheers to a lifetime of happiness for the Longs. So glad I was there to witness such a beautiful wedding!

Pepper

Well the girl we have been waiting for has arrived! And she is even more of a doll than we could even believe. Autumn, Richard, Carden, and Eden welcomed Pepper Tui Kidd into world in October. Of course my Mom and Dad were in New Zealand to be there for her birth(Thank God or my Mom would have been a basket case waiting to hear in America)! Carden and Eden have been awesome big sisters helping Autumn take care of the little one. Pepper has these amazing blue eyes and the cutest little dimples when she smiles. We have already nicknamed her "Ocean Eyes", although all of our nieces have beautiful blue eyes! All of us can't wait to get our hands on Pepper and her sisters too!

She is always happy and observing her big sisters. Autumn stuck her in the bath with Carden and Eden. Pepper saw them in there and laughed and smiled. She thought it was SO cool to be in the bath with both of them. Her smile and laugh made Autumn, Carden and Eden laugh out loud. Summer time can't get here soon enough because that is when the "kiwis" come to visit us in America! I know I am already counting the days! We love you Pepper!

It's a 10 miracle leave-in product truly is a miracle! Considering I'm a hairstylist, I hated to admit i dreaded washing my hair because combing out my tangles was so frustrating! This product has solved that problem and made my life so much easier at the salon and at home. Spray it directly on tangles and spritz it lightly all over the hair. Besides miraculously detangling the hair the smell is amazing!! Other benefits of this product:
  • Repairs dry, damaged hair
  • Adds shine
  • Controls frizz
  • Seals and protects hair color
  • Prevents split eds
  • Stops hair breakage
  • Creates silkiness
  • Enhances natural body
It's worth the price. I highly recommend it. All my sisters are hooked. Buy it and get hooked. It'll be good for you :)

The Morely Wedding

Our best friend Katherine Mary Ford aka the third Hansen brother or Ralphy got married recently. Katie is really like the 7th Gurell girl in our fam and it was so great to see how in love CJ and her really are and it definitely showed on that day!  She was the most laid back bride and it was so awesome to get to stand next to her as she said, "I do." Her true self was shown throughout her day. She complemented everyone she saw and was more worried about how everyone else was doing rather then her. She really is the most real and generous person I have ever met. Even though I was the worlds worst maid of honor I was honored to be there for her. Right when she was about to walk down the isle I stepped on her vail which almost ripped her hair out. Whoops! I didn't feel so bad though because I think everyone of her bridesmaids stepped on it at some point. We are so excited for her and CJ and just hope they have kids soon so we can all be aunties for the fourth time. She was the most beautiful bride ever! We love you Kate and Bubba!
